This is insane… I had no idea this was the model in Alberta. It’s shocking what we are able to accept as normal just because we let it happen for a long period of time.
It is indeed insane. A form of insanity that became normalized. Being away from Alberta for so long, I had forgotten it was like this.
What I didn't mention in the main post is that I volunteered for two boards since moving back--one arts-related, the other conservation related, and reluctantly resigned from both when I realized one of my main functions would be to provide a warm body at casino fundraiser. It was a bit startling to say the least.
